Do you:
Hire 2 more developers to meet the deadline?
Push the deadline back by 5 days?
Have your current team work overtime?

Tampa’s Tech Talent Surge: Rising Wages and Workforce Expansion Propel the City Up the Ranks
Tampa moved up three spots in the 2024 CBRE Tech Talent rankings, with a notable 14.9% increase in tech professionals, bringing the total workforce to 59,650. The average tech salary grew by 25.3% since 2018, reaching $96,559. Tampa produced more tech graduates (9,213) than jobs created (7,750), positioning it as a growing hub for tech talent. Additionally, the city saw significant increases in educated residents in their 20s and 30s, and operating costs for a 500-employee tech company remain competitive at $51.2 million.
FUNDING
Magic Mushrooms Without the Trip?!
The University of South Florida (USF) Research Foundation has invested $200,000 in Psilera, a Tampa-based biotech company co-founded by USF alumni Chris Witowski and Jackie von Salm. Psilera is pioneering the development of non-hallucinogenic treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly focusing on conditions like frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Their lead compound, PSIL-006, has shown promising preclinical results, helping to alleviate psychiatric symptoms while improving learning, memory, and sleep patterns.
This investment is part of Psilera's broader effort to revolutionize at-home care for patients with hard-to-treat neurological disorders. Psilera’s approach seeks to address the unmet need for effective treatments for FTD, which currently lacks adequate therapeutic options.
